Narrative: On Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, at 7:15 p.m. Stillwater Police Department (SPD) and Stillwater Fire Department (SFD) responded to 2119 N. Monroe in reference to an apartment fire. Initial investigations determined that the fire was intentionally set. SFD quickly extinguished the fire and there were no reported injuries. It was reported to SPD that the suspect, Cassidy Mal Lyss, allegedly set a fire to his bedroom and then fled the scene. The suspect’s mother noticed the fire and contacted 9-1-1.
At 9:39 p.m., Sept. 5, 2022, SPD officers arrested Cassidy. Cassidy was transported to the City of Stillwater jail where he is being held on the complaint of 1st Degree Arson.
This is an arrest, not a conviction.
