Summer Art Camp: Art Through the Decades – The 1980’s and 90’s

<html-blob>
Join us this summer for an exciting journey through the twentieth century! Each week will bring an exploration of the visual art and popular culture of a decade (or two). We will take our inspiration from artists and art movements, popular trends in clothing, architecture, literature, theatre, film, music, and dance, as well as the historical and social forces that shaped each era. Each 4 day camp will include a combination of two dimensional and three dimensional projects, and will be divided into a 6-10 year old age group and an 11-14 year old group. For our 6-10 year old cohort, we are pleased to announce a partnership with the OSU Department of Theatre that will bring an added element of movement and performance to each week.

The final week of our summer camp season will be an exciting investigation into two decades that many of us lived through: the 1980’s and 90’s. Some of our projects will take inspiration from Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, the Guerrilla Girls, and Street Art, a paradoxical movement that returned to more traditional figurative imagery while also rejecting the primacy of galleries and museums spaces. We will also be inspired by the introduction of digital art, music videos, and the zine. This one might be the most fun for parents!
</html-blob>
<html-blob>
</html-blob>
<html-blob>https://artscenter.okstate.edu/youth-classes/art-camp?fbclid=IwAR284ADsdIomV3SIATfFcHmkFCByM79vSf6K4z1HG811donQH3Xa_lR7A4I
</html-blob>
