Superintendent, Dr. Gay Washington, posted the following statement on Stillwater Public Schools Facebook page:
We are aware of impending weather over the next few days including extremely low temperatures and the possibility of wintry precipitation.
At this time:
— Due to temperatures, all athletic events for Tuesday, 2/22/22 have been canceled, including the away soccer game.
— The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Athletic Association has made adjustments to all classifications of basketball, the State Wrestling tournament, and several music contests for this week. That announcement and details can be found here. (http://www.ossaa.net/…/MF_2021-22_FebruaryWeather.pdf…)
We hope to start school on time on Wednesday, 2/23/22. The projected weather for 7am tomorrow is currently 13 degrees with a slight chance of precipitation. Please ensure children are dressed appropriately for the weather. Families in need of outerwear may contact SPS Family Support Services (https://www.stillwaterschools.com/…/FamilySupportServices) for assistance.
Stillwater is definitely facing cold temperatures but, if conditions shift, may not receive significant precipitation. We want to avoid any unnecessary cancellations, and also want to avoid closing school after students have already arrived. Therefore, we will continue to monitor the situation to make an informed decision with the latest weather models. If school is canceled, we will notify you as soon as possible, most likely early tomorrow morning.
